Membership & Donations

With an annual food bill of approximately $60,000, veterinary care, heating, cleaning and maintenance, looking after 2000 wild animals annually is a very expensive activity. MWRO relies on public donations to support its operations, activities and growing caseload. All Memberships and donations over $10.00 are eligible for a tax deduction, and will immediately be put to work to provide funding for:

• Care and physical rehabilitation of wild birds and mammals.
• Facility care - providing caging, medical and maintenance supplies to support MWRO rehab work.
• Ongoing research projects focusing on wild birds and mammals, giving us the tools to better understand them in their natural environment.
• Environmental education programs throughout Manitoba to audiences of all ages.

A donation at each level entitles you to: A complimentary MWRO annual Membership; One vote per family at our annual general meeting; An Eagle Donor Level donation also includes your name inscribed on our Donor Wall

Wildlife Sponsorship Program

MWRO has created a sponsorship program to allow people of all ages to participate in wildlife rehabilitation. Anyone can sponsor an injured or orphaned bird or mammal, but you won't have to feed it or take it to the vet, or clean up after it. We'll take care of it until it's releasable and you can take all the credit.

When you sponsor a bird or mammal, you will be giving it a new chance at life and a better chance for survival in the wild! Gift Sponsorships are a unique gift as well as a great way to help injured and orphaned wildlife. Gift recipients will receive a Sponsorship Certificate suitable for framing, and a Wildlife Fact-sheet detailing the natural history of their sponsored animal.

In Memoriam

In memoriam donations made to the MWRO are a meaningful way to recognize a friend or loved one who has passed away. Rather than sending flowers, people often choose to make a donation to a charity as a permanent way to pay tribute to and celebrate a life well lived. Family and friends can appreciate knowing a lasting legacy has been created in honour of the deceased. In memoriam donations are put towards MWRO ongoing work to protect and rehabilitate wildlife.

Tax receipts are issued for donations of $10.00+, and, if requested, the next of kin will receive a note telling them of your contribution. All donations of $250+ will also have the name of their loved one inscribed on our donor wall.

Endowment Fund

Faced with the on-going need and challenge for funding, MWRO has created an Endowment fund through the Winnipeg Foundation. Income from the fund will provide funds that will enable MWRO to supplement other fundraising efforts and reduce the pressure of and need for annual drives. Corporate Sponsorship
